Competition Entry to the Adobe Digital Edge Awards
This self-devised project was focused on changing young women’s preconceived negative mindsets regarding fitness, demonstrating to them how they can break free from self-imposed limitations and prove they are more powerful and confident than they believe through the power of exercise. To achieve this, I created a female fitness app and podcast in collaboration with the activewear brand Oner Active, alongside promotional content on their social media in the hope of shifting the damaging focus from how our bodies look to, more importantly, how we feel, removing consumers feelings of inadequacy whilst opening conversations regarding gym anxiety.
The creation of ‘Grow With Oner’ and ‘Get Real With Oner’ included innovative app design and layout, social media content and collaboration with the inspiring fitness influencer @mriasavage. Additionally, I designed the brand logo and visual design, effectively reflecting Oner Active’s brand identity, alongside elements for the route to consumer touchpoints.
During this project, my skills as a creative rapidly evolved.

Through a supportive, honest and encouraging tone of voice, I portrayed ‘Grow With Oner’ as an empowering concept emphasised by focusing on community support. Using social media as the channel to promote this concept to the consumer allows for consistent consumer contact and increased app success due to the targeted consumer demographic of 18-24-year-olds, resulting in ‘Grow With Oner’ not only being at the forefront of their minds but also their social media feeds.
For the design recipe of ‘Grow With Oner, ’ I wanted the app to feel inspiring and engaging while simultaneously acting as a ‘safe space’ for consumers. Belonging to such a supportive community would instil them with enthusiasm to interact with the app as they progress on their journey. They appreciate the varied workout styles and interactive features, which foster a sense of inclusivity and motivation.
The ‘Grow With Oner’ app is a platform that provides a multiplicity of useful workout
inspiration, fitness information, and resources catering to all fitness levels. The initial purpose of the
app was to provide an inclusive outcome that women can use to find fitness inspiration and motivation while simultaneously providing the female community with a platform to share their struggles while simultaneously supporting others.
The app features five different sections.
The workout page caters to different workout styles ranging in duration and suitable for all fitness levels, giving consumers the flexibilty to follow these at the gym or from home.
The ‘Oner Your Knowledge’ page empowers consumers with the education to feel confident in fitness, providing them with articles covering a variety of relevant topics, therefore aiming to minimise self-doubt.
The progress page collaborates with Oner’s loyalty scheme, acting as an incentive for long-term engagement, fostering stronger brand-consumer relationships.
The community page allows consumers to connect with like-minded individuals: a ‘safe space’ to open discussions about ‘gymtimidation’, asking for advice from the supportive community.
Finally, the podcast page provides consumers with a further platform, as well as Spotify, to listen to the ‘Get Real With Oner’ podcast. This podcast aims to empower the community through engaging episodes, providing powerful information to support their growth journey, featuring different female fitness influencers each week.
